This is adapted from my FAQ. I am adding pictures and more information here. I will update this post as I take pictures of my own tagged Jellies.
This will be updated with new information as I am able to put it up. – Last updated 18 June 2025
What do those tags with numbers on the bottom of the Jellycats mean?
These numbers, (ex. JCINC0123, JELLY0123) to quote from an enquiry made to Jellycat are batch codes or “internal tracking numbers that are randomized so we can identify products that people may put out there as counterfeit.” These numbers are not related to the Jellycat style or a particular range and do not have meaning unless you are in the company. (Nov. 2020)
JELLY and JE are commonly used. J denotes an older design.
JCINC denotes it was made for the US and North America.
BP denotes it was made for Bonpoint.
INDIGO denotes Indigo Music and Books in Canada.
SHANG denotes it was made for China.
AUS is for Australia.
ANTRO is for Anthropologie.
LAURA for Laura Ashley.
COLD is for Coldwater Creek.
GAP is for Gap.
ESTONA is for Japan.
WHITE is for The White Company.
As of right now (April 2025), Jellycat will not identify a Jellycat based on batch code.
What are “hang tag codes” or numbers I see on the Jellycat website right under the stock name of the animal?
These numbers, like BAS3BW, for Bashful Medium Cream Bunny, are the sets of numbers and letters you see on the websites help identify the Jellies and are also used in the catalogues for ordering. They are the style number. They are on the paper tags at the top. They are now also on the back of the new batch code silk loops. Batch codes can be different in some territories due to name changes, but are essentially the same design.
The tags on the bottom of the Jellycats different are different sizes: are they authentic? Why do they have different logos?
The smaller Jellycat designs have silk tags and the bigger ones have cotton tags. Tiny/Baby, Small and Little have the small silk tags, while any of the bigger ones feature the large cotton ones.
Older tags had a shadow behind the letters.
Older style Jellies do not have the style number on the back of the fabric that shows the batch code. This is a more recent development, and started when they made the loop on the fabric that has the batch code printed on it. This was done to accommodate the cotton thread that holds the paper tags. The cotton thread was a change away from the plastic tags to be more eco-friendly.
The fabric that the newer batch codes are printed on is silk and has been for many years, as well as the manufacturing information. The smaller Jellies have silk fabric tags, while the bigger Jellies have a cotton tag with the Jellycat logo and name on it. Older tags are stiff and not made of flexible fabrics and the logo isn’t sewn but printed in a way that it can rub off over time.
Tag Shapes, Logos and Font
Regular Jellycat Tags are in the shape of a house. They feature the Jellycat face and pudding with “Jellycat London” on them. Non-English tags exist and are placed with the paper tags.

Jellycat has changed the logo on their tags, rebranded lines and ranges throughout the years. Jelly Kitten (ended 2011) gave way to Little Jellycat (2012-2021). The latest iteration is Baby Jellycat (2022-current). Some Jellycat plush have Jellycat First Steps on their tags. The recently rebranded Baby line now has tags in a sea-foam green.
Baby Jellycat was another older line and have had tags are in baby blue, baby pink, and a tan, that has the regular logo with ‘Baby’ in cursive underneath. They also had tags with two baby feet and say ‘jellybaby’ in cursive.

Original Amuseable tags were the shape of a leaf, with red lettering on yellow with orange polka dots, on a green leaf. They were attached with a light green ribbon. They did not list the name, only the style code. Names were added later. They have also had a white ribbon with the house shaped tags
Changes in name and/or sizing can mean different information on paper tags. Until this earlier this year, Amuseables said ‘Amuseable’ on the tags; they now say ‘Amuseables’.

The current Amuseables tags have a pineapple on top of the head of the cat, and the Amuseables Sports have a sporting cap on the cat, instead of the classic jelly.
Luxe tags are cream with gold logo and lettering. The tags hanging around the neck on a gold ribbon.

Various Tags
Kutie Pops had a tag that said ‘by jellycat’ or a regular Jellycat tag. They were oval with half grey with cream polka dots and the other half cream with black dots. “Kutie Pops by jELLYCAT” is in black.
Seas the Day has a round tag in pink, sorbet, and teal, with ‘Seas the Day’ and ‘by jELLYCAT’ on it.
Jellybabe tags have a pink cat with eyelashes and the orange pudding, with ‘Jellybabes’ in cursive.
Christmas tags for vintage Jellycats were red and silver. The cat had a Christmas pudding on it’s head with holly, and the Jellycat brand name was teal.

When Jellycat rereleased three designs as part of the 25th Anniversary celebration, they were given special tags that said “Heritage Collection” above the logo.
Jellycat First Steps tags have a brown border and lettering with “First Steps” in rainbow colors.
Why do some Jellycats say “I am” before the name and others say “My name is”?
Until 2025, Jellycat tags said “I am XXX”.
Example “I am Bashful Beige Bunny Medium” or “I am Medium Bashful Beige Bunny”. The size has been listed before or after the name of the animal.
Currently, the tags say “My name is XXX”
Example “My name is Bashful Beige Bunny Original” or ” I am Big Bashful Luxe Luna Bunny”. For some, the size is in the front, for others, it is at the end.
Underneath, there is “Please look after me.”
